WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT WHEN I ARRIVE AT THE HOSPITAL?

When you arrive at the hospital you will be greeted by a receptionist who will ask you some questions to determine if your pet needs to be seen immediately. If so, your pet will be taken into the treatment area to be evaluated by a doctor. Otherwise, when it is your turn to be seen, you and your pet will be escorted into an exam room where the doctor will perform an initial examination. All clients will be asked to complete an admissions form so that we may properly address your pet's needs.

HOW LONG WILL I HAVE TO WAIT?

The number of patients we see can vary from moment to moment. Most patients are seen on a first-come-first-served basis; however, THE MOST CRITICAL AND LIFE THREATENING  CASES WILL BE TREATED UPON ARRIVAL. This may result in an extended wait before non-critical patients are seen by a doctor. Should this happen to you, we hope you will understand that your pet, in critical condition, would be given the same consideration. During some busy periods, even without critical cases, you may have an extended wait. Please be patient while we provide every pet with the best possible care.

WHY CAN'T I BE PRESENT AT ALL TIMES WHEN MY PET IS BEING TREATED?

The presence of loved ones in the treatment area can restrict the ability of our staff to move quickly and efficiently. Pets oftentimes are more relaxed and are better patients when their owners are not present. This is much less stressful for your pet. We will request that you wait in the exam room or waiting room while we care for your pet. Please be aware that the welfare of your pet is our primary concern, and that we will do our utmost to provide the best care possible.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY PET IS HOSPITALIZED?

All hospitalized patients are monitored continuously throughout their stay. Doctors and trained nursing staff are always on duty during the hours we are open. We maintain state-of-the-art equipment and a staff that is competent and dedicated.

Except for immediate life-saving efforts, the doctor will explain for your approval suggested diagnostics and treatment before such work is performed. Prior to your pet being hospitalized, the doctor will discuss the proposed treatment plan and provide an estimate of the expense involved. This is only an estimate. We will not compromise the quality of care to meet an estimate, although we will contact you, if possible, before appreciably exceeding the estimate.

HOW MUCH WILL MY PET'S CARE COST?

Pet care costs can vary greatly, depending on the severity of illness or injury. Our doctors will strive to present the most accurate estimate of costs for your pet’s care.   Please keep in mind that a patient's medical condition can change quite suddenly and unexpectedly, requiring the doctor to perform diagnostics and/or treatment without having the chance to advise you of any changes to the estimate.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN MY PET IS TRANSFERRED TO MY REGULAR VETERINARIAN FOR FURTHER CARE?

When you pick up your pet to be transferred, you will receive complete copies of our records, including any x-rays or lab work. Your veterinarian is accustomed to receiving transfer patients from us and will find in the copies of the records all the information he or she needs. In some instances our veterinarian will have consulted with your veterinarian about your pet’s medical condition even before you arrive with your pet.
